Awe - the Solack…
My all time favorite race of unstoppable superhuman miniature biomechanical war machines with a screw loose. Everything about them is ritualized combat and violence. Right down to their laws and mating rituals! In many ways you could say they are a savage warrior race. And they are very militant by nature. But that’s understandable given the fact that they were created to be living weapons of war. Built exclusively to kill. Likewise they also have a completely alien culture from that of humans. A lot of what they do is seen as negative by human standards. But is in fact healthy and most often necessary for Solack physiology. They are built different from humans and likewise have different needs and standards to fill those needs. Case in point- when a Solack infant is birthed it is tossed into the sea. This is a BAD idea for human babies. But important for Solack infants because it triggers their walking and swimming instincts that would otherwise take years to develop. They also need to consume the salt water along with a steady supply of metal.
The Solack are one of the most sexually dimorphic races in the Core Galaxy. Males are quite flashy. The males are the only ones with the iconic Solack head. One that is not human in appearance. With huge eyes and a large nose. Their body on the other hand does look mostly human with the exception of the hands and legs. Slender nubile lightly muscular bodies with a long flowing mane of often silver hair like bristles. They’ve been described by some humans as almost “shota” in appearance. They look almost nothing like the females- whom aside from their powder blue skin pretty much look exactly like human females. This dates back to when Solack females were made to look like normal humans because they were used as sex toys. Whereas males were used strictly for combat. The two body types were built to serve their specific gender roles and have changed little in overall design since their slavery ended.
The Solack are the second most wealthy race with thee most powerful military. Unfortunately it’s also one of the smallest militaries. Solack populations are always on the small side compared to other more prolific races like Furries or humans. The Solack are smart. They like to take their time to plan their families. Waiting for an ideal situation. Plus pregnancy is a choice that BOTH parents have to willingly make in order to activate both sperm and egg. The result in a tiny population that breeds very slowly despite having a ton of sex. Subsequently, most of their population is actually cloned. Grown in iron brood tubes as a part of a selective breeding program developed to both enhance and expand the ranks of the race. Such dramatic genetic engineering and mass cloning are needed to maintain a workable galactic presence.
The Solack are living weapons. They use their super strength to dominate their enemies despite their rather small size. However- for being so warlike they are surprisingly peaceful in their day to day lives. There is almost no crime within Solack society. Unlike humans they have a limited hive mind that allows them to access information but also helps tune fellow Solack to the thoughts and feelings of their neighbors. They are not naturally full telepaths. But do have some very crude telepathic capacities in a biological sense. This function of transmission and the general monolithic nature of the Solack race makes them more often than not similar minded. It also gifts them a good level of empathy and drive for the common good. Keeps them on the same page. Not completely of course- they still have their individuality. But it does act as a guide. Likewise – unlike the humans, the Solack care for their poor and sick. As a result there is no poverty, homelessness, hunger, or lack of medical access.
The Solack are socialist by nature. They have a well funded welfare system that takes care of the minimal needs of their people. Basic water, food, housing, medical care, transpiration, etc. It’s not a lot. But it’s enough to live on. All other profits are made through capitalistic free trade. Everything is carefully regulated by use of few but strict universal safely laws and standards. Amazingly there are no taxes in the Empire. Although this can be misleading… In some ways what they do have some (few) consider to be worse than taxation.
The Solack are number one producers of power in the galaxy. No other race even comes close. And ONLY the Solack government is allowed to sell power, water, or fuel within the Empire. And they are also the only bank allowed in the Empire as well… In short- the government makes it vast fortune being a galactic super bank with near unlimited control of the economy at large. A bank that has a strict monopoly within the Empire. For that reason – they have almost limitless funds. No one can influence their currency (The Solack Ingot) and no one can do any form banking unless they use the Solack Imperial Bank. Safe – secure, insured, and trustworthy. And forget making loans! You have to do that through the Solack Imperial Bank too! They and they alone hold all the power! So the Solack Empire can well afford to be generous to their people. That’s the trade off.
But at the end of the day the Solack are still weapons of war. And do so live accordingly. As a result, the Solack tend to settle any major disputes with ritualized combat. Fighting in a safe, well regulated, and legal venue prevents crime and murder. Though- ironically many Solack fights are to the death. But they prefer death in the ring to murder in the streets. And of course there is non lethal combat too. Or just friendly sparing. Even their mating rituals are spiced with violence. All this action vents their aggressive nature and keeps them happy and pacified.
If a Solack male or female wishes to have a particular mate. One that they don’t think they could acquire by asking or dating. They can challenge that person to a dual. A fight to the death for the right to OWN the other person as a mate. The other person must either submit and become the challenger’s mate. Or… Fight the other person to the death. The challenger on the other hand – doesn’t have to kill the other person. They need only beat the other person into submission. They may then mate with their conquered prize on the spot if they so desire. The defeated person must now and forever be their loyal mate. And there will be mating! Lots of it! The Solack are wild about sex. But a lot of their sex is also violent – true to their nature. It’s often more rape than standard sex.
Even among well established mated pairs it’s considered pleasurable to growl and leap on their partner. The pair then rolls around and wrestles each other. One tries to fend off the aggressor and block their attempts to take off clothing, grope, or mount. The other tries to pin their mate down and have their way with them. It can be playful or it can turn into more strenuous brawling. But one or the other will win and it will gradually turn into more causal love making. There’s a lot of purring, licking, cuddling, and love play after. It’s their way. To the Solack- Love is conquest. Conquest is life. And Conquest makes victory sweet and satisfying. And it’s not just the males…
Many humans make the mistake of thinking Solack females are somehow less aggressive or violent than males. Those humans are what is commonly known as dead. Solack females are unique. Their dark secret is that the modified X chromosomes of Solack females are in fact heavily altered Y chromosomes. Ones littered with intentionally added male code. The result is aggressive females that think like males and act a lot like males too. Violent sex obsessed predators with a TON of upper body strength. And oh yeah… Females have a neurotoxic bite. Males don’t. Males can (if trained) breathe fire. Females cannot breathe fire at all. But it’s a rare talent among males anyway. –Unlike that. ALL Solack females have a lethal bite. It’s natural for them. And so is killing and eating an undesirable mate.
Likewise you have to be careful around a Solack female. Outside of the Empire neither male or female are allowed to claim you as a mate. But they can still get mad and cut you open. In particular Solack females are biologically driven to test their mate at some point. The purpose is to test the worthiness of their mate and hopefully be defeated and mounted. If their mate should fail- the mate will be killed. If successful- sex! And a lot of it. Overall this biologically built in need is good way to help boost lagging populations and insure good genes. To further the appetite to mate- females go into heat twice a year. Once during the rainy season and again in the fall. This pushes even non-sexual Solack females to breed. Thus females that would not normally be interested in sexual antics and would normally end in biological failure (failing to produce offspring) –are now biologically pushed into wanting to mate for 2 weeks a year. This adds a dramatically improved chance of adding to the population. That is important considering how few naturally born Solack there are.
In all- it’s important for a Solack female to fight and be sexually dominated. At some point if you don’t conquer them in a fight they WILL bite you or take a swipe at you and spill your intestines out all over the floor. Think of the Solack female as a giant black widow spider. If you don’t tame them with force they will give in at some point to their feral side and try to kill you. Sometimes in your sleep. This behavior is also biologically formatted to weed out the weak and the unfit. And if you happen to be human or a Furry… The Solack female will probably eat the flesh off your dead body. Animal instinct… And there is no punishment to this action. Your mate literally owns you. And you own them! Legally you are one person. As equals under the law it is YOUR responsibility to keep control over, or dismiss your mate! And dismissal requires a reason other than lack of ability to handle your mate. Personal weakness and incompetence are not rewarded in any way among the Solack.
Similarly- your mate can attack or kill you if you commit adultery... And they can likewise kill or beat both you and the interloper to their heart’s content. The interloper’s life is forfeit the moment they are caught. Subsequently, infidelity is rare. Because of the consequences and the shame of dishonor. It’s all about keeping a mate and the whole of the population fit. Unfit mates don’t last long. Purging the weak and incompetent strengthens the gene pool and society. It can be cruel. But for the Solack- it is best.
In all -there tends to be more problems with Solack females than males. As a result, few races choose to get romantically involved with the Solack. They are cute, loyal, affectionate, and highly sexual. -But risky... And they have other chemical and physical attributes to please their mates. For example- females produce a topical aphrodisiac in their saliva that increases sensitively to pleasure. When kissing- it can be used to relax a person, basically by doping them up. Plus females and males both have certain ribbed parts that… Emm… vibrate… Lets leave it at that… You can use your imagination.
All in all they do make highly desirable mates. At least if you’re strong enough. But they are indeed risky. Keep that in mind. They have a complex social structure that focuses on physical strength and mental toughness. And you don’t have to be a tough guy. You just can’t be thin skinned, cowardly, or disrespectful. Bear in mind- if they like you, they can always just accept your offer as mate and that’s that. No fighting needed. And as to the females need to be conquered in battle at some point. To tell the scandalous truth – it’s not unheard of for a female to throw a fight. To get tired, drugged, or drunk off her ass and fight very poorly. Therein the Solack female will fight as hard as she can. But she can do nothing if her potential mate just so happens to “have the upper hand.” Good armor, a clear head, and lots of rest. It’s cheating, yeah… But it’s the female’s choice to do so and her body will not be able to tell or care one way or the other. Most Solack trail judges that monitor these events will recognize such shenanigans and will respectfully look the other way. They are not heartless nor attached at the hip to the letter of the law. As long as no one is hurt and it’s obviously consensual- why bother pressing the matter?
But at some point you’re still going to be in for some rough love play. That’s just how it is... But who is to say it wouldn’t be enjoyable? There are all kinds of people. Some might even find Solack ways appealing. Who knows…
